Help stop the Government from removing Feldenkrais from private health insurance!
Author: Joshua Balbin
The Australian Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt announced on the 13th October 2017 that from 2019 private health insurance will no longer cover the Feldenkrais Method, along with several other natural therapies.
This decision was based on a review that claimed there was "no clear evidence of the efficacy" of these treatments. However, the review process was deeply flawed and failed to consider the vast amount of clinical evidence and patient testimonials demonstrating the profound benefits of the Feldenkrais Method, particularly for chronic pain, neurological conditions, and mobility issues.
Why This Matters
Removing rebates for Feldenkrais will make this vital therapy less accessible to the thousands of Australians who rely on it to manage their pain, improve their function, and maintain their independence. For many, it is the only approach that has provided lasting relief when conventional treatments have failed.
We urge you to contact your local MP and the Health Minister to express your concern about this decision and advocate for the continued inclusion of the Feldenkrais Method in private health insurance.
